The Savvy Diva’s Take On 44 Days of Random Thoughts & Observations is exactly what it says. You will get to know the Savvy Diva and most likely will be able to picture her talking to you after the first few chapters. The chapters are days of her thoughts and observations. Some are funny and some are serious. Most of them, I found, I could relate to. I like Jahzara’s writing style. She talks to you as if you were with her. This brings you comfortably into her thoughts. I find this a good book to use for reflections. Jahzara talks about things most women have experienced or know someone who experienced it. Several times reading the book I was in full agreement with her. Read full Alaskan Cafe Book Review.

If I had just one word to describe this read: HILARIOUS! This truly is a “make-my-day” kind of book that gets you laughing our loud and realizing how many hysterical situations we women find ourselves in. I appreciated the balance that the author had between the funny laugh-out loud moments and the more serious observations. The title which made me scratch my head at first is absolutely appropriate for this author’s work. It is written in such a way that it truly does feel like a journey through the 44 days of her life, and it is interesting because it makes you wonder what you would put on paper if you wrote down your simple observations for a span of time. What do we miss each day simply because of the hustle and bustle? I enjoyed that fact that this read made me think of that. This is a light, quick read and it really does allow readers to get a taste for how this author thinks. I could very much imagine her sitting at her desk, recollecting things to include in this novel. Kudos to her, this novel will be popular among women for sure! ___________________________________________________________________________________

Goodreads Summary The best quality of this book is how much the reader gets to know the author. Within a few chapters, it is easy to picture the authors’ expressions, mannerisms, and natural flair. The reader may even begin to feel as if the author could be a potential friend. The writing style is humorous at times, serious at others; the reader will not be bored by a monotonous writing style. As amusing as it might seem to name a book, 44 Days of Random Thoughts and Observations, the book is literally as it states. It is a bit refreshing; the author is not trying to craft a unique story or inform the reader of some issue-it is literally thoughts and observations from the author’s life. A reader can appreciate the thought process of the author. The chapter titles are catchy and fun, the author will likely hold the readers’ attention throughout the story. The reader will probably come away from this book with a few particular chapters that will remain memorable. This book is recommended to adult readers. What is your favorite quality about yourself? My independent mind is my favorite quality of myself. Often times other people try to persuade you to think like them in order to gain popularity without a cause. I’ve always known I was different than my peers, and though it’s not a bad thing, growing up and being the person who goes against the grain of any group’s normalcy is often viewed negatively. It took me a long time to realize that my independent views and characteristic is what makes me stand out from the sheep; allowing me to constantly move forward progressively, instead of getting stuck at the bottom of a path leading others nowhere. What is your least favorite quality about yourself? My indecisiveness; it takes me so long to make a decision about the smallest thing, which is probably an extension of my need to be detailed and specific. Too many choices cause me to over think, evaluate, consider, reconsider, analyze and then reconsider again. I once took an hour (I’m probably under exaggerating) to make a final decision on bathroom accessories, as I walked up and down the home goods section in Walmart. If there are more than two aisles of bathroom towels, floor mats, shower curtains and tooth brush holders, I am doomed. Could you please tell us a little about your book? Savvy Diva’s Take On…44 Days of Random Thoughts & Observations is a collection of short stories I wrote as an extension of my blog, Savvy Diva’s Take On… There are 44 short stories that were birthed from my daily thoughts, which range from my need for space in the check-out line in the grocery store or at the bank ATM; my reveal of the alter ego I keep tucked away tightly until someone invites her out; or my confession of the expanding waistline and dress pants that strangle my hips because of my cupcake addiction. Did something specific happen to prompt you to write this book? I started my blog, Savvy Diva’s Take On… a few years ago, and I remember receiving a lot of comments from readers that I should write a book. I was actually working on another book at the time, but I put that book on hold and decided that I would turn my blog excerpts into a book. I actually stopped posting online for a few months to ensure only the “good stuff” would be written in the book. Do you see writing as a career? Definitely, writing is my passion. It’s the first thing on my mind when I wake up in the morning. If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book? Definitely not. I took my time and carefully chose my words, titles, and content. It’s a reflection of my most honest, vulnerable and sometimes rugged self. Do you recall how your interest in writing originated? I can’t recall the exact day, but I can definitely recall the exact classroom and desk I was sitting at while writing the perfect words to describe my favorite, delectable dessert, the Suzie Q’. It was so easy and natural for me to take something so interesting and exciting, and create a story or poem to describe in detail how I felt. Everyone who knows the real Jahzara, knows that I am passionate about cupcakes and cakes like I am about writing. How much of the book is realistic? I would say 50% of the book is realistic because the short stories/chapters were created from a thought, observation and/or experience I consumed, and the other 50% is pure creativity. I learned early on that I am so detailed when telling a story. My friends would always tease me about the flaw of taking too long to get to the juicy part of my gossip because I would make sure I described each intricate detail. I guess I turned my flaw into a collection of short stories. Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life? The observations and thoughts I’ve written about definitely come from a compartment of experience in my mind, but each story isn’t about one specific situation. I sort of grouped several experiences together and revealed them from either a humorous or serious point of view. Ten Things I Didn’t Know | by Jahzara, The Savvy Diva

I made the decision to write my book two years ago, as I began blogging. Though I didn’t write everyday on my blog, I made sure on a daily basis that I jotted down my topics and thoughts. However, I had no idea that a good writer…a dedicated writer would experience so many turbulent issues. In December 2009, my blog had been active for at least three months, my mind had produced a whole notebook of rants and thoughts, but my lack of focus and holiday influences conflicted with my-self inflicted deadline to have a book written and revised by the new year. Looking back, I can recall the following ten lessons I encountered while rallying internally to produce a higher level of creativity than I had done for my blog.
